Dear Friends,

We are very excited to share some great news with you!
Chabad House Jewish Student Center of Rochester has entered into a contract to purchase a building that will serve as a center for Jewish life at the University of Rochester and other area colleges.

Furthermore, we have received a generous challenge grant from the Rohr family Foundation of NYC. When we raise $500,000, they will match it!

To date we have raised $442,433 on that challenge and we are confident that with your help we can make this dream a reality very soon.

Since 1981 the Chabad House has been a beacon at the crossroads for thousands of Jewish students, providing a Jewish “home away from home” with a vibrant, inclusive community in which all are unconditionally accepted and embraced. A warm “home” where students can celebrate Shabbat & Holidays.  A place where students can comfortably hang out in a Jewish environment, study, ask questions and receive answers. A place to meet the challenges of the future.

Chabad House, with G‑d’s help, has grown tremendously over the past few years in many ways. The present facility - the Yaras Family residence at 36 Lattimore Rd. - can no longer accommodate the many students and faculty members wishing to join the ever growing roster of activities and services.
In addition, the current location of the Chabad House is about a mile away from campus, and February in Rochester… (although the promise of hot chicken soup does help!).

After a long search we have found the perfect location and we are currently under contract to purchase the newly renovated “Boulder Coffee” building at 955 Genesee St. (corner of Genesee and Brooks).
The building is a short 3 minute walk from the Residential Quad and right down the block from Riverview Apartments which makes it the perfect location for the Chabad Jewish Student Center. Also, the size of this building (6,000 sq. ft.) will allow us to expand all our programs so that even more Jewish students can find their “home away from home”.

Please think about our Chabad Jewish Student Center and the long term effects of Chabad's work. We are not funded by any central organization, and we must independently raise every penny of this capital campaign as well as the operating budget.

Please consider making a substantial gift towards this building through this secure website or feel free to contact me (585-503-9224 or [email protected]) to set up a personal meeting.
Now is the perfect time, since your donation will be matched by the Rohr Family Foundation and will make your gift go twice as far.

Thank you for partnering with us today to ensure a stronger Jewish tomorrow!
